The Next Step in Your Player’s Development
Is your young player ready for more?
The FC North U8 Select Program is designed for boys and girls born 2018–2020 who are ready to move beyond our traditional clinics and into a more structured and challenging soccer environment.
The program provides an important bridge between introductory soccer and FC North’s competitive team pathway, giving young players the opportunity to develop their technical ability, confidence, decision-making and understanding of the game.
Placement in our U8 Select programs is evaluation-based. Space is limited to ensure appropriate roster sizes and a quality developmental experience for every player.
Which U8 Select Program Is Right for My Player?
FC North offers two U8 Select pathways based on each player’s age, experience and stage of development.
U8 Select EDP
Our U8 Select EDP program is designed for players who are ready for a more competitive team environment.
Players train with FC North and compete in the EDP CT Futures U8 League, playing 7v7 matches against other local premier clubs.
The program emphasizes:
• Advanced technical development
• Increased speed of play and decision-making
• Introduction to team concepts
• Competitive 7v7 match play
• Preparation for FC North’s U9 competitive teams
U8 Select EDP is a full-year program that includes Fall, Winter and Spring programming.
U8 Select Futures
Our U8 Select Futures program is the ideal next step for younger U8 players and those who are ready to progress beyond clinics but may not yet be ready for traditional league competition.
Players train in a structured FC North environment and have opportunities to participate in small-sided 4v4 games against other FC North programs.
The emphasis is on:
• Building strong technical foundations
• Confidence and comfort on the ball
• Decision-making
• Lots of touches and involvement
• Learning through small-sided games
• Developing a love for soccer
There is no traditional league play at this level. The goal is development and preparing players to progress into U8 Select EDP and eventually our U9 competitive teams when they are ready.

Why FC North U8 Select?
Our U8 Select Program is designed to create a natural progression from Clinics → U8 Select Futures → U8 Select EDP → U9 Competitive Soccer.
Professional Coaching
Training sessions and games are led by experienced, licensed FC North coaches who understand the developmental needs of young players.
Development-Focused Curriculum
Players receive age-appropriate training focused on technical ability, confidence, decision-making and learning how to play the game.
The Right Level of Competition
Rather than placing every player into the same environment, we provide different levels of programming so players can be appropriately challenged as they develop.
A Pathway to Competitive Soccer
U8 Select provides a direct pathway toward our FC North U9 competitive teams and the broader FC North player development pathway.
Fall 2026 Program Details
Eligibility: Boys & Girls born 2018–2020
Fall Season: 6 weeks beginning the week of September 7, 2026
Training: 1 training session per week with an optional second training opportunity
Games: Weekend game opportunities appropriate to each program

U8 Select Futures
Fall Cost: $150
Includes the six-week Fall program with weekly training and small-sided game opportunities.
Optional second weekly training session: $50 additional
U8 Select EDP
U8 Select EDP is a full-year program that includes Fall, Winter and Spring training and competition.
The Evaluation Process
Our goal isn’t simply to select the “best” players. It’s to identify the right developmental environment for each player.
1. Register
Complete the online U8 Select evaluation registration.
2. Attend
Join us at your preferred FC North location for a fun, coach-led evaluation session.
3. Placement & Invitation
Following the evaluation, our coaches will determine whether U8 Select Futures or U8 Select EDP is the most appropriate next step.
Families will then receive an invitation with registration information for the recommended program.
